Start Your Day Right

There are lots of ways to get your day started. Depending on your health and fitness goals, there are different strategies to employ. So, first thing I ingest in the morning is a glass of water with a 1/4 tsp. of salt (preferably colored) and an ounce or so of lime or lemon juice (from the actual fruit, not a bottle). Sound weird? This very simple drink helps kick start 3 great processes: adrenal function, digestion, and detoxification.

Digestion: Most people have low stomach acid (HCL), which hampers the digestion and absorption process. HCL is important for vitamin absorption, mineral assimilation, and aids in pathogen destruction.

Adrenal function: The adrenals are key in hormone production, producing at least 50 hormones. They also need sodium to function properly. Colored salts are ideal, as they will also provide sodium, calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Detoxification: Citrus fruits and lime in particular (because of it’s high vitamin C content), have been shown to help protect the liver. The 3-step liver detoxification process is aided in all three steps by lime and salt.

That’s one of the steps I take in the morning, that benefits the rest of my day.
